One of the key parameters to be considered in any communication is the latency (delay) associated with it. 60 GHz has been in the limelight for quite some time considering it provides wireless communication at Gigabit per second. IEEE 802.11ad has been developed extensively for the standardization of this 60 GHz band. This paper is an investigation of the latency associated with the IEEE 802.11ad standard. It specifically deals with polling based TDMA MAC protocols and the CSMA/CA algorithm that this standard uses in MAC and also the coding scheme used by this standard.
